I’ve decided to keep it simple this year with my garden boxes, and the wood for these plans should be relatively affordable (especially if you only make one of them). Each box is 12″ high (which helps to save on dirt filler), and you can add things like separators and lattice-work for climbing vines, tomato plant support, separators, etc.
For just the basic 4 boxes, you will need:
- 7 – 2″x12″x12′, cut in half so that you have 14 6′ sections
- 2 – 2″x12″ at 2′
- 3″ screws
**Make sure you’re using only untreated lumber for veggie garden boxes!
Cost for all four boxes: probably about $115 in lumber.
Like the thought process simple is better. The typical arm span of a person is around 2 feet, at 3 feet it is quite a struggle to sometimes reach the center of the bed
Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. 🙂 I like these boxes because standard lumber sizes make them so easy to modify!
For instance, you could make 4’x4′ boxes. Just use 2″x12″x8′ boards, and cut them in half. Or you could make 5’x5′ boxes with 2″x12″x10′ boards.
