This is a super easy trick to make chocolate orange brownies. Add the zest from one whole orange (I used a satsuma which is similar) and squeeze the juice from the orange to a box of instant brown mix along with the ingredients it calls for on the back of the box. (Betty Crocker calls for 1/4 cup of water, so I put just a tad less than that since I added the juice.) I’m not a huge fan of orange extract; every time I use it, it overpowers whatever I’m making. But the zest adds a subtle, sweet, hint of orange. Chocolate and orange… what could be better?!
