How to root mint cuttings

mint roots in water

Discovery of the day: mint roots in water! I picked some mint last weekend to bring with me to Tejas, and today I discovered roots. Interestingly, I cut some spearmint and some orange mint, but only the spearmint has rooted so far. Those suckers are going in the ground tomorrow! Maybe the orange mint will root in a few days. So don’t do like me and buy a mint plant at the garden center. Get a few cuttings from a friend with healthy mint, and stick them in some water for a few days (mine took about 6 before I noticed the new roots for the first time), and root your own!
