I love the morning routine of early spring. There’s something about waking up on cool mornings and letting the hens out, checking for eggs in the coop before the day starts to warm up. On my way back inside, I check the garden boxes. Anything new and exciting going on there today? Lately, the garden boxes have been all about the beans. They are the superstars of early spring. Usually the first to sprout, the quickest up, they’re the only thing to add some green to my boxes of dirt this early besides the endless string of weeds that marches in from late winter to late fall. Every morning, it seems the beans are a half inch taller than they were the previous night when I last checked them. Probably one of the closest things to instant gratification you can get in gardening.
